How's this for hero worship? Now, a temple for Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu will be the presiding deity in a temple being built at Harischandrapuram village. In all likelihood, the larger-than-life idol of Naidu will be consecrated in about six months from the start date of construction.

The temple is set to be located on the banks of the Krishna at Harishchandrapuram in Amaravati – the new Capital Region of the state. The proposed temple will be on government land, though the size of it has not been finalised. This is the brainwave of one Buddi Satish Babu, vice-president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Tullur mandal, the eye of the new capital, Amaravati.

Satish Babu told Firstpost that they had not finalised the maker of the idol yet. “We want to hire the best makers. Mostly, the order will be placed with statue makers in Tenali. We will do it, once we commence the construction,” he said. As regards temple’s rituals, he said they would be no different from five other temples in the village. He is considering appointing a priest (pujari) for this. To a query if he proposed to have rituals like ‘Ashtottharam, Sasharsanama, Abhishekam’ for Chandrababu, Satish said nothing had been planned yet. But pundits will be consulted before drawing up the rituals and procedures.
