Moto G4 Play to launch in India on September 6

NEW DELHI: Motorola launched its Moto G4 Play smartphone back in May this year. However, the company did not reveal much about the smartphone's availability in India at the time.

Now, Motorola India's Twitteraccount has confirmed that the device will be launching in India soon. As per several media reports, the device is expected to launch on September 6. That said, the price hasn't been mentioned.

Going by the information in the tweet, Moto G4 Play, like its siblings Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus, will also be exclusively available on Amazon India .
As for the specifications, Moto G4 Play features a 5-inch HD display with 720x1280 pixel resolution. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
Moto G4 Play also has 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards. The dual-sim device sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing snapper for selfies. Connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Battery capacity is 2,800mAh with support for Quick Charging.

To get some idea on the pricing, the Moto G4 Plus bears a price tag of Rs 13,499 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage version, while the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 14,999. The Moto G4, on the other hand, comes at Rs 12,499. The G4 Play is said to be slightly cheaper. This means that the device could come at a price tag of around Rs 10,000.

With Motorola G series handsets trickling down from lower-mid range to low-end price segment, it looks like the company might soon discontinue its Moto E series . The mid-range segment could later be covered by Moto X series. But all these are speculations and rumours for now.
