Special trains extended for one more month

The Southern Railway has extended the train No. 06028 / 06027 Erode – Salem – Chennai Egmore bi-weekly special fare special trains for one more month.

With the present extension, these day-time trains will be operated till January 29.

These trains will be operated on January 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 from both the ends, an official press release of Salem Railway Division issued here on Saturday.
It may be recalled that following persistent demand from the travelling public of the western region, the Southern Railways introduced this train on a temporary basis from mid-September.

The Railways scheduled this train for five days a week till October 14. Later, it extended the train till November-end.

Citing poor response, the Southern Railway announced the cancellation of this train by November-end. With various traders’ bodies and other organisations demanding the extension of this train in connection with the Christmas holidays, the Railways extended the train till December-end with reduced frequency of operation – twice a week.

The Railways once again conceded to the demand of the public by extending the train for one more month taking into consideration the forthcoming Pongal festival season.
