Eastern Railway has run time tabled Parcel Express trains in different phases in different routes, to carry essential commodities including consumables, perishables, medical equipment, medicines etc during COVID-19 lock down period to support the need of time for swift transport of those materials to different corners of the country.Presently, parcel express trains from Eastern Railway run in seven destinations including Howrah-Guwahati, Sealdah-Guwahati, Howrah-Amritsar, Kolkata-Gorokhpur, Howrah-Jamalpur, Kolkata-Farrukhabad, Howrah – Agartala, Sealdah – Agartala and Howrah – New Delhi routes.
As a step further towards providing easy, fast and economic transportation solutions, which is the need of time as well as increasing freight loading, ER has run a Parcel Special train to transport Consumer Products from Dankuni (West Bengal) to New Guwahati (Assam).
Starting from Dankuni on 19th September 2020, this Parcel Special traincovered a distance of 957 KMs carrying 220 Tonnes of consignment, generating a revenue of Rs.6.29 Lakhs for Railways.
